TalentLMS lets you automate course assignment and user management by using Automations, a series of specific actions which are triggered by specific events according to your specified parameters.
For example, you can use an automation to:
- Assign a course a few days after users have completed another course.
- Assign a new course to users whose certification for another course has expired.
- Deactivate users that have not logged in for a certain amount of time.
Note: Automations are available with all the Premium and Enterprise plans. |
To create your first automation, follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as Administrator and go to Home > Events engine.
2. On the Notifications/Automations switch, click Automations (1).
3. Click Add your first automation (2).
4. In the Name (3) field, type a name for your automation.
5. From the Automation (4) drop-down list, choose one of the available automations:
- Z hours after course X assignment, assign course(s) Y
- Z hours after course X completion, assign course(s) Y
- Z hours after course X certification expiration, reset and assign course(s) Y
- Z hours before course X expiration, assign course(s) Y
- Z hours before course X certification expiration, reset and assign course(s) Y
- Z hours after course X completion, with a score between K and L, assign course(s) Y
- Z hours after course X failure, assign course(s) Y
- On course X completion, assign course(s) Y
- On course X completion, with a score between K and L, assign course(s)
- On course X completion, call URL Z
- On course X completion, give Z points
- On level X reached, assign course(s) Y
- On course X certification expiration, reset and assign course(s) Y
- On course X certification expiration, reset and remove course(s) Y
- Z hours after last login, deactivate or delete user
- Z hours after signup and the user has not made a purchase, deactivate user
- Z hours after user signup, assign course(s) Y
- Z hours after course X completion, deactivate user
6. Depending on the automation you've selected, add a value for the required X, Y, and Z parameters (e.g., Z hours, course X, and course Y).
7. Click Add automation to save your changes.
Note: Automations "Z hours after last login, deactivate or delete user", "Z hours after course X assignment, assign course(s) Y" and "On course X completion, assign course(s) Y" can limit the action to users of a specific group or branch using the filter option. The automation “Z hours after last login, deactivate or delete user” allows you to filter also by user type. Other automations do not support the filter option. If you delete a course linked to an automation then this automation is also deleted and it cannot be restored. |
