TalentLMS lets you send automated emails that notify your users, instructors and account owners of specific events (for more on working with Notifications, see this article). Some of these trigger events are related to your Instructor-led Training units.
The available ILT-triggered notifications are:
- On ILT session create: Users are notified when a new ILT session is added to one of their courses.
- On ILT session registration: Instructors are notified when a user registers themselves to an ILT session they (i.e., the instructor) have created. The same event can be used to notify a user when an instructor registers them to an ILT session remotely.
- X hours before an ILT session starts: Users are reminded of an upcoming ILT session X hours before the session begins.
- On ILT grading: Users are notified when the instructor grades an ILT session they have attended.
Here’s how to create an ILT-related notification in a few steps:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as Administrator and go to Home > Events engine.
2. Click Add notification.
3. Type a Name (1) for your notification.
4. From the Event (2) drop-down list, choose one of the ILT-related events (e.g., On ILT session registration).
5. From the Receiver (3) drop-down list, choose a recipient for your notification (i.e., either Related user or Course Instructors).
- On the first line, type a subject for your notification email (e.g., ILT REGISTRATION TO {course_name}), and press Enter to change lines.
- Then, type your notification (e.g., Dear {instructor_first_name}! The user {related_user_name} has just registered to the {session_name} session of the {ilt_name} ILT unit, which is part of the {course_name} course.

Location: {session_location}"). - Finally, add a footer with some basic notification info (e.g.,This email was sent from {site_url} at {time}).
| Note: Use the smart tags below the Body text area (5) to pull the corresponding information (the user’s username, the instructor’s first name, the session name, etc.) from your system. In your text, each tag appears in curly brackets (e.g., {course_name}). To each recipient, the notification is sent with the brackets replaced by the corresponding values (e.g., the name of the course that contains the ILT unit). |
| Note: If you are using the event X hours before an ILT session starts for a multi-day session, a notification will be triggered for every session in that unit. |
