TalentLMS supports Intercom identity verification to let you ensure that all conversations between you and your Intercom users are kept private, and no user can impersonate another.
To set it up, follow these steps:
| Note: The integration is also available on Branches. Simply go to Home > Branches select the desired branch and go to the Integrations tab to activate it. |
1. Sign in to your Intercom account and enter the identity verification guide.
2. Go to Settings > Channels > Messenger > Install and open Secure the Messenger with Identity Verification.
3. Click to expand the options for installing the messenger app.
4. Select Code snippet in step 1.
5. In Step 2, Generate an HMAC code or copy the existing HMAC secret key.
6. Click Basic JavaScript.
7. Select Email to set it as your users’ unique identifier (i.e., instead of User ID).
8. In step 3, copy the app_id from the script.
9. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator and go to Account & Settings > Integrations.
10. Scroll down to Apps and click the Intercom Identity Verification (1) tile.
11. In the drawer that opens, Enable (2) the integration and enter your Intercom Secret key (3) and App ID (4), then click Save (5).
| Note: You cannot set up identity verification for logged-out visitors/leads. Also the Intercom widget will not appear for the TalentLMS Account Owner. |
Now you can keep all internal communication secure for you and your users.
How to apply your Intercom configuration to your branches
After you have integrated your Intercom account with TalentLMS you have the option to copy those settings to any or all of your branches. To do this:
1. While on the Intercom integration page, click on the dropdown (1) menu under Apply to branches and either choose one or more of your branches, or choose Select all to apply to every branch.
2. Once you’ve selected your branch(es), click on the Copy (2) button.
3. To complete the copy, click on the Confirm (3) button in the modal that appears.
