TalentLMS lets you organize your files with tags. Tags help you instantly categorize and label files without sorting them into endless layers of folders. There are two types of tags in TalentLMS: auto-generated file-type tags and custom tags.
In this article, you’ll learn:
- To a file in a Course
- To a file in a Group
- To a file in a Branch
- To a file shared with a User
B. How to use the auto-generated file-type tags
You can add tags to files in a Course, Group, Branch, or User. They all follow a similar pattern. The tag is applied across any page that includes this file. For example, if you've added a file in a course and a group and added the tag from the course, the tag will also be visible to the group.
- How to add a tag to a file in a Course:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Instructor and go to a course page.
2. Click the Files section (1) to open the file library.
3. To add a tag to your file, click the edit symbol (2).
4. Select Tags (3), type a tag name in the Search tag field (4), and click the + symbol (5) to create a new tag.
5. Click Update (6) to save your tag.
6. The tag will now appear next to the file name in the Tags column (7).
- How to add a tag to a file you shared with a Group:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator and go to Home > Groups (1).

3. Select the Files tab (3).

5. Click Tags (5), type a tag name in the Search tag field (6), and click the + symbol (7) to create a new tag.

3. Select the Files tab (3), find the file you want to edit, and click the edit symbol (4).

Β. How to use the auto-generated file-type tags
You can filter files according to their file type. Here’s how:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Instructor and go to a course page.
2. Click the Files section (1) to open the file library.
3. Click the Filters tab (2) to select the tag of your choice.
4. From the drop-down list, select the tag you want to be displayed from the Tags option (3).
5. Now, all files with the same tag (4) are shown.
6. To remove the filter, click the x symbol beside the tag (5).
7. Now, all files (6) are visible again.
By default, the files are shown in alphabetical order. Click the Type column (7) to change the order of the files.
Note: Learners can filter the files shared with them via Courses, Groups, or Branches. Their own profile can also be filtered using the custom Tags. |
