With TalentLMS’s Skills, you can help your users grow and enhance their learning journey.
To create new skills, follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS portal as an Administrator, and go to Skills (1).
2. Click Add skill (2).
3. In the pop-up window, enter your skill’s name (3).
4. If you want our AI-powered tool to fill the new skill’s content for you (i.e., skill description, custom skill image, assessment, and external resources), toggle the Fill with AI option (4).
5. Click Save (5).
Once you’ve created your skill, you’ll be redirected to its content editor page so that you can start setting it up.
You can update its name (1), add a description (2), and add a custom image (3).
Below, you can create the self-assessment question pool (4), add related courses (5) from your library, and provide external resources (6) that may help users acquire the skill.
To create a pool of questions for the self-assessment, follow these steps:
1. While on your skill’s content page, click Add questions (1) under the Self-assessment question pool section.
2. Click Multiple choice (2) to manually type in your question and answers, or click Multiple choice - create with AI (3) to let our tool do it for you.
3. Once you’ve added a question, you can add more by clicking Add question (4) from the toolbar at the button of the page to manually type it in or by using the AI prompt (5) for it to be filled automatically for you. The AI option will create up to 5 questions each time unless the Fill with AI option is toggled when the skill is created, in which case the AI will create all questions.
Note: The number of questions in self-assessments can be adjusted in Account & Settings > Skills. This setting is global, and every Skill will require the same number of questions to be answered in its respective self-assessment. |
To provide related courses to users taking up a particular skill, follow these steps:
1. Under Related courses, click the Edit option (1), and a menu will open, listing all of your courses.
2. Click Add to skill (2) for every course you want to add that’s relevant to the skill you created. You can also Assign courses with AI (3) if you want to let the system decide which of your courses are best suited for the specific skill.
Note: If the system doesn’t locate any courses relevant to your skill, it’ll show you an error message stating that none of your available courses are related to that skill. |
To manage external resources, follow these steps:
1. Click Add resources (1) under the External resources section.
2. In the following menu, enter the resource’s title (2).
3. Add the URL leading to the resource (3).
4. Click Add (4).
Once you’ve added an external resource or used AI to add one, you will be able to edit it, delete it, add a new one, or disable external resources altogether.
Here’s how:
- To add a new resource, click + Add resource (1).
- To edit an existing resource, click the edit button (2).
- To delete a resource, click the delete button (3).
- To disable external resources for that skill, toggle the switch (4).
