To help you quickly find what you’re looking for, TalentLMS has filters you can use to search your account.
In Section 1 of this article, you’ll learn how to work with filters as an Administrator. Specifically, how to filter users, courses, and reports. In Section 2, you’ll learn how filters work as an Instructor. Specifically how to filter course user lists, users & progress lists, and course reports. In Section 3, you’ll learn how to use filters when performing mass actions.
SECTION 1: Working with filters as an Administrator
A) Filtering users
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as Administrator and go to Home > Users (1).
2. Next to the search bar, click the filter icon (2) and select the way you want to filter users: by Status, Branch, or Group. You can also combine filters by using Status AND Branch OR Group.
3. You can now see a list of filtered users and, at the top right, a tag indicating the filter applied. To remove the filter and return to the list of all users, hover over the filter tag and click x (3).
B) Filtering courses
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as Administrator and go to Home > Courses (1).
2. Next to the search bar, click the filter icon (2) and select the way you want to filter courses: by Status, Branch, or Group. You can also combine filters by using Status AND Branch OR Group.
3. You can now see a list of filtered courses and, at the top right, a tag indicating the filter applied. To remove the filter and return to the list of all courses, hover over the filter tag and click x (3).
Note: You can also filter users within a specific course. Click on a course, visit the Users (4) tab and choose between Branch or Group (5). |
C) Filtering reports
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator and go to Home > Reports (1). On the right panel, choose the type of reports you’d like to see (eg: Course reports) (2).
2. At the bottom of the report and next to the search bar, click the filter icon (3) and select the way you want to filter reports: by Status, Branch, or Group. You can combine filters by using Status AND Branch OR Group.
3. You can now see a list of filtered reports and, at the top right, a tag indicating the filter applied. To remove the filter and return to the list of all reports, hover over the filter tag and click x (4).
Note: The same filters also apply within Branches. The groups visible in the filter options (users, courses, reports) within each branch are only those that are associated directly with that branch. |
SECTION 2: Working with filters as an Instructor
Instructors can use the filtering options in courses they are part of. Filters are available in the Users list, in the User & Progress panel and in the Reports of the course.
A) Course users list
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as Instructor, choose the course you wish to edit, and navigate to the Users list (1).
2. Click the filter icon (2) to pick the filters you’d like to apply. The related user list will appear where you can add users as needed in the course.
3. To remove the filter and return to a full list of users, hover over the filter tag at the top right and click x (3).
B) Users & Progress list
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as Instructor and navigate to the desired course. On the right panel, click Users & Progress (1) to reveal the list of course users.
2. At the bottom of the page, click the filter icon (2) to pick the filters you’d like to apply. The related list will appear where you can engage with the filtered users.
3. To remove the filter and return to a full list of users, hover over the filter tag at the top right and click x (3).
C) Course reports
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Instructor and navigate to the desired course. On the right panel, click Reports (1) to reveal the list of course users.
2. In the Users report, click the filter icon (2) to pick the filters you’d like to apply and the related users report will appear.
3. To remove the filter and return to a full list of users, hover over the filter tag at the top right and click x (3).
Note: You can combine Branch OR Group filters with the Status filter. For example, you can filter users who are Active AND belong to a Branch OR Group. Administrators and Instructors who wish to filter users by Group AND Branch at the same time need to log into the relevant Branch and filter by Group there. |
SECTION 3: Enrolling courses to users with a filter
To save you time, TalentLMS uses mass actions. Mass actions help you take a series of actions on multiple users at once.
Here’s how you can use filters to enroll an individual user to selected courses:
1. Log in as an Administrator, go to Home > Users and open the desired user’s profile (1). Go to Courses and apply the filter (2) needed.
2. Hover over Course (3) to reveal a checkbox and tick to select the courses you’d like to enroll the user to. You can untick selected courses and keep only the ones the user doesn’t already have.
3. Click the arrow (4) at the bottom of the page to expand the view and see the rest of the courses.
4. When all the desired courses are selected, click Mass actions (5) and from the drop-down menu choose Enroll.
