TalentLMS allows you to pay for your subscription via credit card, with your next billing date determined by your billing cycle (monthly or annual).
To find your next billing date:
- Log in as an Administrator.
- Go to Subscription > Subscription options (1).
On the due date, the credit card on file is automatically charged. However, the payment may fail due to reasons such as:
- Insufficient funds
- Expired credit card
- System error
If the payment fails, the invoice issued on the billing date will appear as Unpaid (2) under Subscription > Subscription options > Invoices.
Over the next 14 days, the system will automatically retry the payment four more times. During this period, your service will remain active.
- On the first and third failed attempts, an automated email notification will be sent to the account owner informing them of the payment issue.
Note: To update your credit card details and resolve the issue, follow this guide. |
If the payment fails on the 14th day, your subscription is automatically canceled, and your portal switches to the Free plan. At this point, only Administrator users can access the portal to restart the subscription, as explained in this guide.
Changing your subscription plan during the 14-day retry period
If you modify your subscription plan during the 14-day retry period, here’s what happens:
Downgrading your subscription
- You can switch to a lower plan during this period.
- The system will continue trying to charge the failed invoice.
- If the payment is successful, the difference between the previous plan’s cost and the new lower plan will be credited to your TalentLMS account.
- This credit will be applied to your next renewal.
- If the payment ultimately fails on the 14th day, the subscription is canceled.
Upgrading your subscription
- If you select a higher plan, the system will attempt to charge for the upgrade, but not for the renewal of your previous plan.
- If the upgrade payment is successful, the unpaid invoice for your previous plan will still be due, and the system will continue trying to charge it.
- If the payment for the unpaid invoice fails, your subscription is canceled.
