The Analytics feature in TalentLMS introduces customizable dashboards for Admins. You can create dashboards for different target types. At this time, the available target types are: System-wide, Main Portal, All Branches, Specific Branch, All Groups, Specific Group.
This article outlines which widgets are currently available to use in your dashboards, what each widget shows, and how its values are calculated.
To access Analytics and create a dashboard dedicated to a specific target type:
1. Log in to your TalentLMS account as an Admin and go to Reports > Analytics (1).
2. You’ll land on your default dashboard. Click Create dashboard (2) to start creating a dashboard based on system-wide, portal, branch, or group data.
3. In the drawer that opens, choose a target type (3) (e.g., your entire domain, a specific branch or group, etc.)
4. Scroll down to the Widgets section to select one or more of the available widgets (4) for your new dashboard.
Widget glossary: What each widget shows and how it’s calculated
A. Banner (Image)
- What it shows (1): Displays a customizable banner image at the top of your dashboard.
- How it’s calculated: Not a data widget; purely visual for branding or clarity.
B. Insights (List)
- What it shows (2): Key user and course activity insights.

How it’s calculated:
- Logins: % of users logged in at least once: Total users who have logged in / total users * 100.
- Enrollments: % of users enrolled in at least one course.
- Participation: % of users who have started at least one unit.
- Engagement: % of users that have completed at least one course.
- Completion rates: % of course completions over course assignments.

C. Courses’ overview (List)
- What it shows (3): Overall status of courses.

How it’s calculated:
- Total number of courses.
- Average score across courses.
- Average completion time.
- Completion rate: (Completed enrollments / total enrollments) * 100.
- Total learning activities, i.e., tests, assignments, ILTs, surveys.

D. Users (List or graph)
- What it shows (4): User distribution by role.

How it’s calculated:
- Total users.
- Number of Admins, Instructors and Learners.
E. Courses’ Content (List)
- What it shows (5): Types of content items/learning activities across your TalentLMS courses.
- How it’s calculated: Counts of units, LTI, tests, assignments, ILTs, surveys.

F. Courses’ progress status (Graph)
- What it shows (6): Current status distribution of course enrollments.

How it’s calculated:
- Total number of current course enrollments.
- % completed.
- % not started.
- % in progress.
- % not passed.
G. Training time (Graph)
- What it shows (7): Total training time logged by users.

How it’s calculated:
- Total training time summed across users.
- Courses with the highest training time.
H. Library (List)
- What it shows (8): Breakdown of uploaded learning objects across your TalentLMS courses.
- How it’s calculated: Counts of videos, documents, SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5 files.

I. Certificates (List)
- What it shows (9): Certification statistics.

How it’s calculated:
- Total certificates accredited.
- % of valid certificates.
- % of expired and expiring within the next month.
You can edit, remove, and rearrange these widgets on your dashboards to visualize the learning data that matters most to your teams.
