The new Analytics feature brings advanced, customizable dashboards to TalentLMS Admins. Analytics offer rich, data-driven insights into learning progress, user activity, and course engagement. This article will walk you through how the feature works and how to make the most of its dashboards and widgets.

Key capabilities of the Analytics feature include:
- Editable dashboards: Add, remove, or rearrange widgets.
- Custom widgets: Visualize data by course, user, group, and more.
- Advanced filtering: Focus on active users/courses or view all data.
- Export options: Export dashboards as image files.
- Dashboard management: Clone, delete, rename, or set dashboards as default.
Admins can:
- Create dashboards for different target types: The entire system, the main portal, branches, individual branches, groups, and specific groups.
- Use banner widgets to personalize dashboards.
- Filter and drill down on metrics using visual widgets.

To access Analytics:
1. Log in to your TalentLMS account as an Admin and go to the Reports (1) section.
2. Select Analytics (2) from the report tree.
How to work with Analytics and its options
A. Understanding dashboards
Upon first access, you will see the default dashboard.
To switch your view between your dashboards, select an existing dashboard (1) from the list (sorted by target type and name). Target types define the scope of the dashboard: Entire portal (system-wide), Main portal, All branches/Specific branch, All groups/Specific group.
B. Filtering dashboards
Use filters (2) to refine the data displayed:
- Users: All users, or active users
- Courses: All courses, or active courses
Changes apply instantly to all widgets on the dashboard.
C. Creating a new dashboard
To create a new dashboard:
1. Click Create dashboard (1).
2. In the drawer that opens, first choose a target type (2) (e.g., your entire domain, a specific branch or group, etc.).
3. Add a title (3).
4. Optionally, upload a custom banner image (4).
| Note: The image should be at least 1000px wide and 350px tall. The accepted file types are: GIF, JPEG, and PNG. The max file size is 10 MB. |
5. Select widgets (5) relevant to the target type. Widgets provide a visual summary of your learning data. Examples include: Users overview, Course completion rates, Certification stats.

6. Save (6) your dashboard.
D. Customizing dashboards
While viewing a dashboard:
- Click Add widget (1) to quickly select or deselect widgets for your dashboard.
- Click Edit (2) to customize the dashboard widgets.
In Edit mode, you can:
- Rename the dashboard (3): Click on the current title to edit the name of the dashboard you're viewing.
- Update the banner image: Click on the Upload image (4) icon to upload a new banner image.
- Edit widgets (5): Change content or visual format (choosing between lists and charts) for each widget.
- Remove widgets (6): Remove one or more of the selected widgets.
- Rearrange widgets: Drag and drop your widgets to change the layout.
Once you're done, make sure to click Save (7) at the top right of your screen.
Otherwise your changes will be reset when you leave this page.

E. Dashboard settings
While viewing an existing dashboard, click the gear icon to open the Settings (1) menu. From here, you can select the following options:
- Set as default: Show this dashboard first each time you visit Analytics.
- Clone: Create a copy with all the same widgets and settings. Your cloned dashboard will have the same name as the original, followed by (clone).
- Export: Preview and download the dashboard as a PDF file.
- Delete: Remove the dashboard. If it is the only one, you’ll see an empty state and can create a new one. Deleted dashboards cannot be restored.
F. Exporting dashboards
To export:
1. Click Settings and then click the Export as PDF (1) button.
2. Preview the image and download it (2) as a PDF file.
