Audio units in TalentLMS let you add audio-based learning content to your courses. Use Audio units to make your material more engaging, explain complex topics more clearly, or guide learners through step-by-step instructions.
A. Add an Audio unit
You can create an Audio unit by uploading an audio file from your device, selecting a file that already exists in the same course, or simply recording a new one directly with your microphone.
To add an Audio unit to a course:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator or Instructor.
2. Go to Courses (1) and edit (2) the course you want to update.
3. Click Add (3).
4. From the Standard content section, select Audio (4).
Choose the audio type
After selecting Audio, choose how you want to add your audio:
- Upload a file (1): Upload an audio file from your device using any of the supported formats: AAC, AIF/AIFF, MP3, OGG, WAV, WEBM, and WMA. Maximum file size is 600MB.
- Select a course file (2): Reuse an audio file that has already been added to the same course.
- Record audio (3): Record a new audio file using your microphone.
Note: Your browser may ask for microphone access before recording.
B. Configure Audio unit options
Under Unit options, you can configure how learners complete the unit and how the audio behaves during playback.
Complete unit
Use the Complete unit (1) setting to define what learners need to do to finish the unit.
You can choose one of the following completion methods:
- With a button: Learners complete the unit by clicking the completion button.
- After a period of time: Learners complete the unit after spending a specific amount of time on it.
- With a question: Learners complete the unit after answering a question.
Note: When After a period of time is selected, you can set a custom time limit or synchronize the timer with the audio duration. You can set a maximum limit of 172,800 seconds (48 hours).
Audio options
In the Audio options section, you can configure the audio playback settings (1).
Optionally, use the following:
- Enable Autoplay to start the audio automatically when learners open the unit.
- Enable Synchronize timer with audio to match the completion timer with the audio duration.
- Enable Auto-pause audio when changing tab to pause the audio when learners switch to another browser tab.
Note: You can edit, delete, or replace the audio at any time by editing the Audio unit after it has been added.
