cmi5 is a modern eLearning specification that improves compatibility across learning systems. It builds on the xAPI protocol and adds structured definitions for packaging, launching, authentication, and tracking—helping content work more reliably across platforms.
(For a deeper look into cmi5, check out article).
Just like SCORM and xAPI, importing cmi5 content into TalentLMS is quick and simple. You just upload a cmi5 package (.zip) into a course.
Importing cmi5 content into your course:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Instructor.
2. Go to Courses (1), hover over the course you want to update, and click Edit (2).
3. Click Add > Learning Activities > SCORM | xAPI | cmi5 (3).
4. Select Upload a SCORM, Tin Can, or cmi5 ZIP file (4), upload your file, and publish the unit.
Once uploaded, any xAPI statements from your cmi5 content will trigger course completion or failure. These actions are recorded in the TalentLMS LRS and displayed in the Timeline.
Tracking progress on cmi5 Content:
1. Log in as an Administrator and go to Reports > Timeline (1).
Note : Click Reset to clear existing filters before starting your search. |
2. In the Event drop-down menu (2), choose any of the following events under the xAPI section:
- [TC] activity
- [TC] attempt
- [TC] experience
- [TC] answer
- [TC] completion
- [TC] failure
3. View the search results (3) to track user activity and engagement.
To export these results, click Save as CSV (4).
Note: Make sure Tin Can xAPI is enabled on your portal. Go to Account & Settings Integrations xAPI Integration to confirm and enable the feature. |
