TalentLMS allows you to organize and manage individual training environments for different departments or types of learners with a feature called Branches. With branches, you can segment your company's training or even create separate training environments for your customers.
Branches are built to operate as independent sub-portals, and they can be customized to have their own URL, theme, language, users & courses.
Note: The number of available branches depends on your subscription plan. Branches are not available on the Free plan. |
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator. Go to Home > Branches > Add branch (1).
2. Type a Name, a Title, and a Description for your new branch in the respective fields in the Identity (2) section. As you type the name, the branch URL will be generated automatically. Users can access your branch directly from that URL.
Note: Branch names must contain at least 3 characters. These characters must be lowercase letters and/or numbers (see this article). |
3. If you want your branch to look visually different from your main portal, select a branch theme (3) from the dropdown menu.
4. If the branch's logo is different from that of your parent company, upload a logo and favicon for your branch (4).
5. Under the Locale (5) section, from the Branch language drop-down list, choose the language of your branch. From the Branch time zone drop-down list, choose your preferred time zone, if different from your main portal.
Note: If you set a language for the branch, it will override any language setting the users have made individually. |
6. Add an internal and external Announcement (6) for your branch members and visitors.
7. Select the Signup method for users that belong to your branch (7). If you want to restrict their access to this specific branch, check Disallow members of this branch to login from main domain URL (i.e., your branch members cannot log in to the portal through another branch or the main portal URL). You can also add the branch’s Terms of service here, should they be different from the main domain.
Note: If a user belongs to both a restricted branch as well as a non-restricted one, they will also have access to the main domain. |
8. When ready, click Save (8) to create your new sub-portal.
On the new branch page, you can see :
- The Users (9) tab: Click the add to branch (10) button to open the list of users, and add users to your new branch with the add symbol.
- The Courses (11) tab: Click the add to branch (12) button to open the courses’ list and make courses available to your new branch members with the add symbol.
- The Files (13) tab: Upload your files and make them accessible to branch members or keep them hidden by changing their Shared (14) option.
- The Info tab which allows you to edit the previous information.
Note: A branch can have its own Administrator to view and manage users, courses, groups, and reports. To do that, simply add a user with Administrator permissions (i.e., assigned with an Admin-type or SuperAdmin user type) to this branch. In this article, you can find more information on branch Administrator permissions. For more on User Types and permissions, see this article. |
