Surveys in TalentLMS give Administrators and Instructors a built-in way to capture Learner feedback directly inside a course, no external tools required. By adding Survey units (multiple choice, free text, scale, Likert, and more), you can measure course quality, gauge learner satisfaction, and surface what's working and what isn't, then use the Survey reports to act on that feedback and continuously improve your training.
To create a Survey:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator or Instructor, go to Courses (1) and Edit (2) the course you want to add a Survey to.
2. Click Add (3), and from the Learning Activities options, select Survey (4).
3. Type a Survey unit name (5) and provide a description (6).
Note: You also have the option to clone a survey from another course unit but you can't link to another.
4. On the bottom panel, choose the question type (7).
The available types are:
- Multiple choice: A form of an objective assessment. Learners are asked to select answers from a list of choices.
- Free text: Learners insert their answers as text.
- Likert scale: A form of a rating scale that measures agreement, satisfaction, frequency, likelihood, quality, and more. Based on a question or statement, learners select the degree of their opinion.
5. Select the question type and enter your question.
Note: For multiple-choice survey questions, the possible answers need to be at least two. Press Enter to add additional answers. By default, only one answer can be selected. Click the switch (8) to allow more than one answer choices. In this case, the checkbox turns to a square.
6. Save (9) your survey question, and it will be added to the list.
You can remove it at any time by clicking the '⋮' button and selecting Remove from survey (10).
Note: If you have created other surveys, all their questions will be available under the existing questions (11) option. Switch the toggle to Add (12) to include an existing question in the Survey.
7. To set the question order, simply drag and reorder (13).
8. Click the '⋮' (14) button on the Survey unit, and click any of the Survey options to:
- Define whether the answers will be visible after the survey completion.
- Prevent users from moving to the next question unless they have chosen an answer.
9. Click Publish (15) and use the preview button (16) to review the survey.
Note: You can create and use tags for your questions to categorize and better organize your survey questions.
