TalentLMS helps you engage users and boost the number of Learners who complete courses by reminding them to complete their training. You do this by setting up a recurring notification.
To create a course reminder notification:
1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator and go to Notifications (1).
2. Click Add notification (2).
3. Type a Name (3) for your notification in the respective field. (The name is visible only to you so that you can recognize the notification. Learners will not see it.)
4. From the Event (4) drop-down list, select the X hours after course acquisition event. This event is triggered for users that are still in progress X hours after they have been assigned to a course.
| Note: If you’ve added an expiration date or a time limit to your course, you can also use the X hours before course expiration event. Please note that this event cannot be recurring. |
5. Specify when the first notification should be triggered in hours (5). The timer starts once the course is assigned to the Learner.
6. (Optional) Filter your notification by course (6).
7. (Optional) Alternatively, exclude specific courses (7) from this notification.
8. From the Recipient (8) drop-down list, choose a recipient for your notification (e.g., a specific user, all users that are assigned to the course (Related user), an Instructor, or an Administrator).
9. In the notification's Message body (9) text area:
- In the first line, type a subject for your notification email (e.g., Reminder to complete your course), and press Enter to change lines.
- Then, type your notification. Use smart tags as needed (e.g. Tick tock {related_user_first_name}! It seems you have not yet completed the "{course_name}" course).
- Optionally, add a footer with some basic notification info (e.g.,This email was sent from {site_url} at {time}).
10. (Optional) To see a preview of the notification expand the Send preview email (10) section, and click Send (11). A copy of the notification will be sent to your email address. Smart tags will not be filled in.
11. To set this reminder to repeat, enable the This is a recurring notification (12) toggle.
12. Configure the reminder to repeat Every X (13) Days/Weeks (14).
13. Choose how many times to send the reminder with the Occurences (15) slider.
Here are some examples:
- The notification repeats every 2 days, and ends after 7 occurrences: it will be triggered 7 times in a period of 14 days (2*7=14).
- The notification repeats every 4 weeks and ends after 39 occurrences: it will be triggered 39 times in a period of 3 years (4*39= 156 weeks= 39 months= 3 years).
14. Click Save (16) to save your settings.
| Note: This notification is not triggered when a Learner has already completed the course. If it's a recurring notification, it stops once the Learner completes the course. |
