TalentLMS tracks both the date a course is completed and the time spent completing it. It records the time learners spend on each unit, starting from the moment they open it until they progress to the next one by scrolling down and clicking the respective button (1).
For example, if a learner opens a unit, stays there for 5 minutes, and exits without completing it, TalentLMS records 5 minutes. If they return later, spend another 5 minutes, and then complete the unit, the total recorded time is 10 minutes.
If a learner opens a unit, stays for 5 minutes, completes it, and then exits, only 5 minutes is recorded. If they open the unit again after completing it, no additional time is counted.
The recorded training time updates in reports as soon as the learner exits the unit.
Note: Training time is recorded the same way on both desktop and mobile devices. |
Note: Some SCORM files may track revision time, which can add to the total training time even after the unit is completed. |
Things to keep in mind:
- Network speed and quality may impact training time while content loads.
- If a learner leaves a unit open without exiting, time will continue to be recorded.
- On the mobile app, learners must exit the unit properly—closing the app or screen won’t stop the timer.
- The total training time for a course is the sum of the time spent on all its units.
