TalentLMS’ course builder allows you to manage the content of your course and its units in the course outline.
To add content to a course:
First, log in as an Administrator or an Instructor and open the Courses menu to create a course or open an existing one. Then, click Edit course to edit or update its content.
Note: Content can only be created or edited by the courses' assigned Instructors. Your profile must be assigned to the course before you can access the course content. Administrators or Instructors who want to edit the course need to be assigned to the course as Instructors as well. |
There are two ways to start adding content:
A. Drag-and-drop files
Simply drag and drop the files you want in the content area (1).
Note: If you select to upload several files at the same time, you are automatically creating different types of units, depending on the file types. You can then edit their names and unit completion methods. |
B. Click the “Add unit” button
Click the Add button to specify the type of unit you want to add from the drop-down list.
The options are:
- TalentCraft
Create interactive content using text, multimedia, and flashcards with the power of AI.
- Standard Content
The following types of standard content are available:
- Content: Type your text, upload images, and use our editor to further customize the content.
Note: You can select any part of the text to open the toolbar and edit it. |
- Web content: Embed content from external web sources.
- Video: Upload your file, capture a video, or search YouTube with the use of keywords or by directly pasting the video's URL.
Note: .mov files are not supported when the video transcoding service is disabled, under Account & Settings > Security > Course Content. |
- Audio: Upload your file or capture audio.
- Presentation|Document
Note: Uploaded documents (e.g., PDF, PPT) are converted by default into web-compatible formats and displayed through a third-party service. When Administrators choose to disable the Modern Viewer option from the portal settings, users will not be able to view the documents on mobile browsers. |
- iFrame: Insert other website pages as an iFrame unit. They can be viewed as embedded or in a new window.
- Learning activities
Tests, surveys, assignments, ILT, and SCORM/xAPI/cmi5 content are all grouped under Learning activities:
- Test: Test your Learner's knowledge.
- Survey: Collect feedback from your Learners.
- Assignment: Review and grade answer submissions from Learners.
- Instructor-led training: Create live webinars.
- SCORM | xAPI | cmi5
- Additional options
- Sections: Organize the course material into logical entities
- Clone from another course
- Link from another course
Note: The total number of units and sections in a course cannot exceed 1000 items. |
Let's create a course on "How to Boost your Sales Negotiation Skills" with one Video, Presentation, and Assignment unit.
Video
1. Click Add (1) and from the Standard Content select Video (2).
2. Select the option to use a YouTube video (3) and type Sales Negotiation Skills.
3. Select your video.
4. Click Unit options (4)
5. Define how the unit will be completed (5):
- With a button: The user will be able to click the button that appears after scrolling down to complete and continue.
- Αfter a period of time: The Learner will need to wait X seconds for the unit to be completed and continue.
- With a question: The user will have to correctly answer the question to complete the unit.
Note: The answer in the Question option is not saved in reports. If you want to see your Learners' answers, create a short Test unit. |
6. Click Save (6).
7. Publish the unit (7).
Your first unit has been created.
Note: If you’d like to set the video to autoplay, just click Unit options and enable Autoplay. Then, click Save. This option is only available in video files uploaded to the portal. |
Presentation
1. Click Add, and from the Standard Content, select Presentation|Document (1).
2. Click the option to Upload a file (2) and upload the file from your desktop.
3. Click Unit options.
4. Define how the unit will be completed and click Save.
5. Publish the unit.
Note: The uploaded document will also be available In the course files for later use. |
Assignment
1. Click Add, and from the Learning Activities, select Assignment (1).
2. Type in the instructions (2) for the Learners.
3. Click Assignment options (3)
4. Define how the unit will be completed and click Save.
5. Publish the unit.
